A test is a comprehensive assessment instrument of the individual
for the overall program evaluation. One
of the tests commonly used by the school is a summative test. The test is
usually conducted in every academic period or once in a semester. This study
was intended to analyze validity, reliability, difference power, level of
difficulty of summative items in 2012/2013 academic year in teaching science
(Biology) and its relation dealing with students’ achievement of learning
outcomes at State Junior High School in Jember. This research belongs to a
descriptive study with included with quantitative approach. The objects of this
study were summative items of Biology for grade VII used at Junior High School
in Jember. According to the results of the research conducted on summative test
items, it showed that the content validity of the items was 100% based on the
problem criteria. Then the validity categorized low validity was 76%, and low
reliability was about 52%. While the difference power categorized bad was
64,8%, and the difficulty level categorized relatively easy was 97,3%. The
relation among content validity, reliability, difference power and the
students’ competency achievement was not significant. Meanwhile, the difficulty
level had a significant relationship to the students’ competency achievement
with p = 0.967 as difficulty level
