The low quality of
education in Indonesia required serious efforts to control because it can lead
to low competitiveness of Indonesia compared to the international
community. Group Investigation model
using guided inquiry strategy is expected to be an alternative to improve the
quality of education, because it is potential to increased the students
activity and learning achivement. This study aims to determine the effect of
group investigation model using guided inquiry strategies on activity and
student learning achivement. This study was quasi- experimental research with pre-test and post-test non equivalent design.
Samples were divided into two treatment groups, named the control class using
the conventional learning model and experimental class with group investigation
model using guided inquiry strategies. The study was conducted as two meetings
in each class and then the data were analyzed using analysis of covariance
(Ancova) for learning achivement and t -test analysis for the learning
activities in the treatment class. From the Ancova analysis, the results
obtained a significant effect (Sig 0.03) on student learning achivement and the
t -test analysis showed a significant differences (Sig 0.00) on the students' learning
activities. From this experiment, it can be concluded that the group
investigation model using guided inquiry strategies had an influence on the
activity and student learning achivement.
